Support for a range of social welfare priorities Who can apply? UK Charities What is available? Variable The Lotus Foundation aims to support activities that advance social welfare in fields tha include substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumors, cancer, battered women and their children, homelessness and animals in need. Currently the Foundation focuses on offering financial assistance for family and child welfare, womens issues, animal protection, addiction recovery and education. More info: The Lotus Foundation http://www.lotusfoundation.com/The_Lotus_Foundation.html ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ LANKELLYCHASE FOUNDATION "SMALL GRANTS FOR SUMMER ACTIVITIES 2010" Around 120 grants of £500 each are available to charities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to support summer activities for children and young people aged from 5 to 17 and who are young carers or who are living in refuges for families escaping domestic violence. Guidelines and application forms are available on www.lankellychase.org.uk and can be requested in hard copy from the Foundation''s office (tel: 01235 820 044). The deadline for applying is 14 May 2010 and you should hear the outcome in June. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ COMMUNITY FOOD AND HEALTH''S SMALL GRANTS SCHEME ANNOUNCED TO OPEN IN APRIL (SCOTLAND) The Community Food and Health Scotland (CFHS) has announced that their small grant scheme will be open for applications from the 29th April 2010 and will close on the 9th July 2010. Grants from £500 to £4,000 are available to groups and agencies who would like to tackle one or more of the barriers to healthy eating, such as affordability or availability, and the negative impact of culture and lack of food skills. Projects funded in the past include; Girvan Youth Trust, awarded £3,360 towards kitchen equipment for Z1 catering and hospitality training; Lamancha and District Community Association, awarded £1,150 towards pick, cook and eat training course. Application packs will not be available before the 29th April 2010. http://www.communityfoodandhealth.org.uk/funding/smallgrants.php# ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ FUNDING FOR INTERGENERATIONAL PROJECTS The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is an international charitable foundation with cultural, educational and social interests which aims to connect and enrich the experiences of individuals, families and communities. As part of their ageing & social cohesion programme, over the next 12 months, the foundation is seeking new ideas to encourage contact across generations and to promote greater cohesion within communities by combating linear generational divides . The Foundation is looking to award up to 18 projects in the UK and Portugal of £30,000/?30,000 each to develop intergenerational pilot projects. The IntergenerationAll programme has 3 key strands under which applicants may apply; Environment, Migration and Intercultural issues, and Isolation and Loneliness. Applicants may apply under any one of these aims. There are two stages to the application process. The deadline for stage 1 is the 26th March 2010. Candidates selected for stage 2 will have to submit the application by the 16th April 2010. http://intergenerationall.org/?lang=en ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ IDEASFUND NOW OPEN TO APPLICATIONS IdeasTap, a non-for-profit initiative supports young creative filmmakers between 16 and 25 years of age, has announced that their Ideas Fund Shorts and their Ideas Fund Innovators are open to applications. Through the Ideas Fund Shorts, IdeasTap is offering eight awards of £5,000 to the most original ideas. And through the Ideas Fund, 10 awards of £1,000 are being offered to help those at the beginning of their creative careers to take their project to the next stage. The deadline for applications for the Ideas Fund Shorts and the Ideas Fund Innovators is the 29th March 2010. Innovators will re-open for the next round of applications on the 30th March 2010. http://www.ideastap.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/Default.aspx ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ SAFER INTERNET PROGRAMME 2009 - 2013 The European Commission has announced the 2010 call for proposals under the Safer Internet Programme. Safer Internet 2009-2013 builds upon the Safer Internet plus programme started in 2005 and will have a total budget of ?55 million. During 2010, a total of ?3 million is available to support projects that ensure public awareness of internet safety; fight against illegal content and tackle harmful conduct online; promote a safer online environment; and establish a knowledge base relating to the danger of internet addiction to minors and how children, use new media, with the purpose of identifying areas of particular concern for child safety. The closing date for applications is 5 pm on the 27th May 2010. http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/activities/sip/funding/projects/ index_en.htm ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ BBC CHILDREN IN NEED SMALL GRANTS SCHEME BBC Children in Need are inviting not-for-profit organisations (including registered charities, voluntary organisations, schools, local authorities, churches, social enterprises, community interest groups, universities etc) working with disadvantaged children and young people 18 years and under, living in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, to apply for grants of up to £10,000 through their small grants scheme. BBC Children in Need aims to fund projects where a small amount can make a real contribution to the success of the project. Grants can be used to cover both, capital and revenue costs. There are four application deadlines in the year. Examples of previously funded projects are: Free From Arts Trust for a project that gave fun and creative holiday activity for disadvantaged children; Chance UK that provides mentoring and support to children with behavioural problems; and Kidscape that helps children who are disadvantaged through being severely bullied for an extended period.
