If so, then Unlimited could be just the offer you’ve been waiting for! Unlimited is a new UK-wide disability arts commissioning fund being run as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The fund aims to commission new work that is artistically-led by disabled people and projects of between £25,000 and £50,000 are being actively encouraged. Unlimited will celebrate disability, arts, culture and sport on an unprecedented scale, as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The application process is being operated by Arts Council England on behalf of London 2012, the Scottish Arts Council, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the British Council who have all contributed to the scheme. The large Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts including dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Applications are invited for projects over £30,000. This funding can be used to fund full or part production costs for large-scale arts projects that aim to have significant impact on the public''s engagement with biomedical science. The Trust are also interested in supporting high-quality, multi- audience, multi-outcome projects lasting for a maximum of three years. Eligible applicants can include: museums and other cultural attractions; arts agencies; production companies; arts venues; broadcast media; schools; local education authorities; universities and colleges; youth clubs; community groups; research institutes; the NHS; and science centres. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science. Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded from the Age Concern website.. Because of the current postal disruption (November 2009) Age Concern are happy to receive emailed/faxed forms, but hard copies must be put in the post as they do need original signatures to comply with Audit Requirement. The applications deadline is the 11th December 2009. www.ageconcern.org.uk/AgeConcern/08D1C0F9EA804291B35B0DAE63BA5134.asp ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ INCREASE III REUSE PROGRAMME (SCOTLAND) Wrap Scotland has announced the launch of INCREASE III (ReUse), a new £800,000 grants scheme. This programme is part of the Scottish Government''s Zero Waste Strategy, aimed at not-for-profit community sector organisations to improve the re-use infrastructure and capability across Scotland. The aim of INCREASE ReUse is to; help re-use projects recover household items for re-use from civic amenity sites (household waste and recycling centres) in partnership with local authorities; seed-fund re-use projects in geographic areas where there is a significant gap in re-use service provision; support re-use projects to develop additional material types. The maximum grants that can be awarded to any individual project for any given year is £200,000 although the maximum amount, which can be awarded to any one project over the lifetime of this INCREASE Programme, is £300,000. Funds may be used for capital investments and revenue costs up to 31st March 2011. WRAP Scotland and the CRNS will be holding information seminars about this programme to assist applicants: Tuesday 24 November in Tolbooth, Stirling; Wednesday 24 November in Edinburgh; Thursday 25 November in Inverness. http://www.crns.org.uk/increase/enroll.html ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ COMIC RELIEF''S OLDER PEOPLE''S PROGRAMME Comic Relief is inviting the voluntary and community sector throughout the UK where older people aged 65+ are developing ideas for action and change, to submit applications through their Older People''s Programme. The programme aims to support older people to bring positive change to their community; and help older people feel less isolated, especially those who are most excluded such as; black and minority ethnic elders; frail older people with mental health needs; older carers; and those on lower incomes. Examples of the types of projects they will fund include; bringing the generations together to learn from each other through, for example, the creative arts or IT; older people acting as a resource to other older people and supporting those who may be less physically and mentally able; projects that are engaging hard to reach groups; activities which generate profits to further social or environmental goals, such as community cafes run by older people. Most grants are expected to be of between £15,000 and £40,000 per year. Grants may be for up to 3 years. The public are being given the opportunity to back their favourite of the four projects in the running: Black Country as Urban Park, The Edge at the Eden Project, Sherwood The Living Legend and Sustrans'' Connect2. To help people decide which project to give their vote to, the website also includes detailed information about the schemes, videos of their celebrity supporters, discussion forums and the latest news from the projects. The Foundation supports charitable and non-profit organisations with creative ideas to identify change or interventions which will have a practical impact for researchers, policy makers, and practitioners. There are currently three grant programmes that support research and innovation for beneficial social change, these are; Law in Social Society - this programme promotes access to, and understanding of, the civil justice system; Children and Families - this programme help to ensure that the legal and institutional framework is best adapted to meet the needs of children and families; and Open Door - this programme is for projects that advance social well being, but lie outside their main programme areas. Grants normally range between £5,000 and £150,000. The Scottish Community Projects Fund can award grants up to a maximum of £2,000.00 or half the cost inc VAT (whichever is the lower) for a local Community Group to employ an architect or any other building professional, to prepare a feasibility study for building or environmental improvement projects or employment or other initiatives which have social benefit. When such a study has been completed, the Community Group will have a clearer understanding of all the issues relating to building or environmental projects including their own requirements, responsibilities, long-term sustainability, timescales, programming, project management and will be in a stronger position to seek funds for the project itself from more major funders. http://www.rias.org.uk/content/default.asp?page=s1_6_3 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ IT''S YOUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMME TO CLOSE O2 have announced that It''s Your Community scheme will be closing at the end of December 2009. It''s Your Community, which is managed by the Conservation Foundation, provides grants of £100 to £1,000 to individuals and groups to improve their local environment. Between now and the end of the programme, O2 are increasing the youth focus of these awards, but will still accept applications for projects that do not involve young people.
