Theatre Production - Call For Stories: Directors Saul Garcia and Chelsea McKinnon, in collaboration with Production Manager Simona Manca and Artists in Exile, Glasgow (AiEG), are looking for stories to become part of a new theatre production to be produced in June as part of Refugee Week 2007. Why do people leave their countries? Why do immigrants take serious risks in order to get into countries with developed economies? What are their dreams and hopes? What do they leave behind? Who helps immigrants to cross the borders? At what cost do they make that journey? We are seeking (short) stories about these journeys. Are you or anyone you know an immigrant or refugee that has taken risks to cross a “border”? Have you written about it or would you like to? You don’t need to be a professional writer or have good English. We are interested in real stories about the process of the journey. If chosen, the stories will be edited by professional writers. As the writer of the story you can take part to this workshop during which your tale will become a script for theatre. Submission Guidelines: Style: Short story or non fiction article/essay. Length: 3000 words Deadline: 12th February 2007 Format: Microsoft Word or compatible Please mail or email submissions or questions to AiEG, 8-10 Osborne St, Glasgow, G2 5QD 0141 552 7668 theatreproduction@googlemail.com ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ From ODS: Same Difference? Since 1999 debates and policies on culture - from the National Cultural Strategy to the Cultural Commission; the review of the national companies to the launch of the National Theatre; and “Creative Scotland the awards” to “Creative Scotland the agency” – have busied government. Drawing on the experience of key figures in Scotland’s cultural life, this seminar explores our new engagement with cultural development and policy.
